Collaboration with Wheelchair Daddy

The Story of Our Design Partner and the Birth of TEKNO+PLUS

We recently connected with mobility expert Glenn Moscoso, aka Wheelchair Daddy, a dad living with cerebral palsy, to design an accessible wallet pouch for wheelchairs. Glenn first approached us with the idea because of a specific problem that he faced.

“For years there have been numerous versions of wheelchair pouches, but none has included the organization pockets and features for the user to access items they needed quickly and effectively.  The ‘pouches’ I have used in the past were not ideal. I would have to fumble through the pouch to find my wallet.  Once I had my wallet, I had to juggle holding the pouch while trying to use my wallet.  This new design eliminates this problem by having a wallet built directly into the bag design,”

The two most important features suggested by Glenn were:

  1. Removable ID Window Badge
  2. RFID-protected front panel.

Our collaboration sketches for the TEKNO+Plus RFID wheelchair-adaptable wallet pouch. This pouch attaches to virtually any mobility device, and has a luggage pass-through.

The velcro front panel is useful for AAC cards, and for keeping smaller items from getting lost in the bottom. The high-contrast lining and zipper rings and tactile elements are helpful for people living with vision impairments.
